Instructions to read instructions

Okay, so one morning back in April, I asked H to take out a crockpot meal I had spent time preparing a few weeks ago (it's been in the freezer) and put it in the crockpot. Now some of the meals have additional instructions written on the outside of the bag I vacuum-sealed. For example, shred chicken, add pasta, etc etc.

So today's meal was bacon  ranch chicken with pasta. H comes in while I'm working on my report and tells me dinner is done. I'm excited. I go out and open up the crockpot. There's no chicken and no pasta, just some bacon in cream sauce.

Me: "Where's the chicken?"

H: *staring at me blankly*

Me: "the chicken that was supposed to be added - did you read the giant black writing on the outside of the bag?"

H"there were instructions?"

Me: "uh, yeah..."

H: *looking at me in shock* "you didn't tell me I had to read the instructions.

Me: .....

H: .....

Me: "I didn't realize I had to tell you to read instructions."

H: "you said to take out the meal and put it in crockpot. I did exactly what you said. You did not tell me to read the instructions."

Me: "valid point, but I really didn't think I had to start with instructing you to read instructions."

H: "well now you know better."

So now I have to make sure I give her directions to read the instructions, despite the hard to miss large thick black lettering that is all over the sealed bags.
